Republic Day in the steel city was celebrated with equal fervour by the administration, corporate houses, schools and colleges.

East Singhbhum DC Ravi Shankar Shukla unfurled the Tricolour at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur in the presence of SSP Anoop Birtharay, DDC B. Maheshwari and others. Rapid Action Force, Jharkhand Armed Police, home guards, Bharat Scouts and Guides and NCC cadets took part in the parade, social outfits and corporates displayed tableaux.

Thirty persons — freedom fighters and their kin — were felicitated with shawls.

Tata Steel vice-president (safety, health and sustainability) Sanjiv Paul unfurled the Tricolour at the Tata Steel Works. Tata Steel’s security department and fire brigade, the NCC and dog squad took part in the R-Day parade.
