As many as 30 youths from across the country will receive a 10-day training on waste management, which in turn will help them become successful entrepreneurs in the future.
National Research Development Corporation in association with city-based social outfit Relearn Foundation will organise Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme on Total Waste Management from January 3 to 12.
While the first module of the programme will be held from January 3 to 6 at Vijaya Gardens, Baridih, the second module will take place from January 7 to 12 at Tetla panchayat under Potka block of East Singhbhum.
The training, which is aimed for people between the age of 21 and 45 years, will focus on types of waste generated in rural areas, valuation of waste, community waste collection system, waste processing and value added product development and how to make and operate mini biogas kit.
“Waste management is a challenge but there are unlimited opportunities for entrepreneurs in the field. Most people are unaware about how to generate self-employment through innovative ideas. The training programme will help the youths in ideating businesses that will help them make money,” said Sushant Kumar, co-convenor of the training programme.
Over the span of ten days, various resource persons, including environmentalists, social workers, soft skill specialists and bankers, will conduct sessions on waste management and also provide skill development training. Some of the sessions will be based on leadership, marketing, communication and social networking skills along with hands-on training on paper bag making and home composting.
The trainees will also be guided on designing biogas reactor, refining and collection of gas, financial skills and banking facilities and ways to develop business on biogas. They will also get a chance to witness the active biogas plant at Tata Steel guest house.
“The programme is designed to encourage entrepreneurs from rural areas. The lecture sessions will make the participants acquainted with what and how one can develop business ventures through waste management,” added Kumar.
