Scare hits trains
The South Eastern Railway on Tuesday notified the cancellation of many trains due to low occupancy in view of the coronavirus outbreak. The Howrah-Mumbai CSMT Duronto Express via Tatanagar will be cancelled from March 24 to 31. Mumbai CSMT-Howrah Duronto Express is off tracks from March 25 to April 1. Tatanagar-Ranchi Express and Rourkela-Barbil Intercity Express will be cancelled from March 20 to 31. Tatanagar-Chhapra Express and Tatanagar-Chakulia Passenger will be cancelled from March 18 and 19, till 31 but for infrastructure work. Puri-Santragachi Special (Up) and Santragachi -Puri Special (Dn) will be off between March 20 and 27. Western Railway on Tuesday decided to hike the price of platform tickets from Rs 10 to Rs 50 to discourage people from crowding platforms. But the SER ruled out any such hike.
Safety for eateries
DC Bhuvnesh Pratap Singh and SP Mayur Patel on Tuesday met owners of banquet halls, restaurants and office-bearers of Ram Navami Mahasamiti, on safety norms, including washing hands, to check coronavirus. The DC said the next two weeks were crucial.
