In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, two important establishments in town have boosted their preventive measures to check the spread of the deadly virus among their officials and employees.
Hazaribagh district collectorate has installed infrared thermal scanners at its two entrances, while Vinoba Bhave University's headquarter in Sindoor area on Ranchi-Patna Highway (NH-33) has placed sanitiser machines fitted with sensors at its entry gates of all departments.
At the district collectorate, two teams, comprising four people including a woman, have been placed at both entrances to take the temperature of visitors as well their personal information needed for contact tracing. Speaking on the improvements, one of the team members said they were checking the temperature of more than 300 visitors daily.
“This drive started four days ago but so far we haven’t found anyone with high temperature,” he said, adding that they have been directed to send people with high temperature to a hospital.
The measures were taken on the instructions of deputy commissioner Bhuvnesh Pratap Singh. “It's for the security of people working here,” the team members said.
Similarly, at the VBU campus, entry of people without masks has been banned. Further, sanitiser machines fitted with sensors have been installed at the entry gate of all departments. At the administrative block, a guard takes the temperature of the visitors through an infrared thermal scanner.
Doors, furniture, windows, walls and floor of each and every department are sanitised on a daily basis, Banshidhar Rukhaiyar, registrar of the varsity, said. “It is necessary to sanitise hands from machines installed here at various points,” Rukhaiyar added.
Meanwhile, in view of the problems faced by tenants, the deputy commissioner on Sunday passed an order directing house owners to not force tenants for paying rent.
In the order, Singh further said owners cannot threaten tenants to vacate the house in the prevailing situation. He said that if any complaint comes, the person responsible will be booked under section 51 of the National Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Singh's order comes after reports emerged about owners harassing tenants for payment of monthly rent.
