Visitors to Hatia railway station can now get a preliminary report of their health.

A Hyderabad company working in the healthcare sector, Quantificare, started the facility from Saturday by installing the pulse active station kiosk, which gives the user a medical report in five minutes at a cost of Rs 100.

To get a printed report, a person has to stand up on the sensor-activated kiosk.

The report includes BMI, height, weight, cardiac health parameters such as blood pressure, pulse rate, SPO2, body water and mineral content, bone and muscle strength, percentage of protein, sugar and oxygen in blood, among others. Those taking the test can know the indicators to cardiac health, diabetes and osteo-arthritis.

The public relations officer of South Eastern Railway’s Ranchi division, Suhas Lohakare, said they started this new facility for passengers at Hatia station and hoped people used it.

Quantificare official Prasenjit Mohapatra said Hatia station was the first in Jharkhand to have this facility. “Ranchi station is next,” he added.

Mohapatra said that the full report comes for Rs 100 but if someone wants a report for a specific disease or deficiency, the charges are less.

He added: “Today being the first day we could not give information on presence of sugar but very soon that will also be provided. The machine will help people broadly know about their health quickly and affordably.”

Passengers welcomed the initiative. Prabhakar, a civil contractor, said: “As a child we all loved standing on weighing machines. Now technology has advanced so much. This facility will help busy people.”
