Water slides, lazy rivers and splash pads are passé. Wave pools are the latest craze and steel city is on its way to get the first of its kind in Jharkhand.
Splash Zone, the water park at Nicco Jubilee Park, will boast a wave pool in a couple of months.
Wave pools, which are a big hit among water park visitors, are swimming pools that can be controlled to trigger waves of varying sizes.
The construction of the 1,200-square-metre pool with a depth of 4.5 feet has already started at Nicco Jubilee Park and is expected to attract more visitors from nearby districts once it’s ready.
In March 2019, Nicco Jubilee Park had inaugurated the Splash Zone with five rides, It is now on an expansion mode. The extended area will cover a total of 1.5 acres and will have the second water slide.
“This will be the first wave pool in Jharkhand. We are sure that the footfall will increase manifold after the inauguration of the wave pool,” said Argho Chatterjee, senior manager (marketing and promotion) at Nicco Jubilee Park.
The existing Splash Zone has a rain dance arena, mini pool, rainbow slide and playing stations.
The water park is equipped with separate changing-cum-shower rooms and locker rental facility.
Currently, Nicco Jubilee Park witnesses as average footfall of around 500 per day. A visitor has to pay Rs 300 to enjoy all the rides at the park and the Splash Zone.
Youngsters looked excited about the wave pool.
“We have visited Splash Zone so many times. It is even better in summer, especially the rain dance arena. The wave pool will add to the experience. I don’t need to go to the beach to experience waves,” said R. Jyoti, a final-year student of Jamshedpur Women’s College.
