The South Eastern Railway (SER) on Wednesday notified its decision to cancel and reduce the frequency of several trains because of the prevailing foggy weather in northern parts of the country.
A list of trains issued by the office of chief passenger transportation manager indicated cancellation of Santragachi-Anand Vihar Weekly Superfast Express from February 3-24. The Anand Vihar-Santragachi Weekly Superfast Express will remain cancelled from February 4-25.
The Hatia-Anand Vihar Jharkhand Swarna Jayanti Express will remain cancelled from February 2-27 while the Anand Vihar-Hatia Jharkhand Swarna Jayanti Express will not ply between February 2 and 28.
The frequency of Ranchi-Patna-Ranchi Jan Shatabdi Express will be reduced. The 12366/12365 Ranchi-Patna Jan Shatabdi Express will remain cancelled on February 7, 14, 21 and 28.
Both the Up and Down Ranchi-Ajmer Garib Nawaz Express will run on diverted routé via Allahabad Jn, Allahabad City, Manduadih, Varanasi, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Jn. instead of Allahabad Jn., Mirzapur and Vayasnagar till February 29 against previously announced January 31.
Chief public relations officer of SER Sanjay Ghosh said such changes in the movement of trains had been done because of the fog, which usually hampered movement of trains during this time of the year. “The fog in north India is affecting movement of several trains, which prompted us to cancel and make other changes,” he said.
