The south side of the extension complex of Dhanbad railway junction, one of busiest railway stations of East Central Railway, is set to get a slew of new facilities including shopping outlets, a circulating area for vehicles, pay-and-use toilets, among others, very soon.
Also, Dhanbad railway division is awaiting the 600m double lane approach road for the south side extension complex, which is likely to be ready within a week.
Talking to The Telegraph on Wednesday, senior divisional commercial manager of Dhanbad Akhilesh Kumar Pandey said once the approach road is ready, development of other passenger amenities will take place on priority basis.
Senior divisional commercial engineer (coordination) B.K. Singh said they would broaden platform 8 on the south side from the existing 8m to 20m.
A foot overbridge connecting the main station complex with the south side extension complex would also be extended up to platform 8. Shopping outlets, pay-and-use toilets and other passenger amenities will also come up at the south side after February, Singh promised.
He said the upcoming double-barrel approach road for the south side extension complex also has a subway.
“This will greatly help the development of the south side extension complex,” said Singh.
