Empty coaches of train derail at Paharpur railway station; train services disrupted

Two coaches of an empty train returning from Uttar Pradesh to Jharkhand after dropping the security forces for upcoming elections derailed near Paharpur railway station of Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway, about 190 km from Dhanbad at around 4.30 am this morning disrupting the train services on Dhanbad Gaya section of Howrah New Delhi railway line for more than six hours.

The normal traffic in the section, however, resumed at around 11.15 am after the completion of repair work carried out by a railway team which reached immediately after the incident from Gomoh.

Notably, the fifth and sixth coaches of the train numbering EcOR 164379 and ER 102527 respectively derailed in the yard of Paharpur railway station while the train was coming from loop line to down line.

The railway protection force immediately reached the site and took the train in its security cover but an accident relief train departed from Gomoh to the incident site at Paharpur at around 5.15 am after which the restoration work of the track resumed.

The trains affected due to incident included, Howrah Jodhpur Superfast Express (12307) which lied stranded at Gurpa station since 9.35 am, Howrah Mumbai CSMT mail (12321) at Koderma from 5.41 am, Dhanbad Dehri On Sone Intercity Express (13305) at Parasnath Railway station from 9.39 am, Garba Superfast Express (12937) at Gaya from 5.25 am, Jammu Tawi Kolkata Express (13152) at Son Nagar from 6.56 am, New Delhi Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express (20818) at Gaya from 8.21 am, New Delhi Sealdah Rajdhani Express (12314) at Anugrah Narayan Road station from from 6.58 am, New Delhi Howrah Rajdhani Express (12302) at Dehri On Sone from 6.57 am besides some other trains.

Talking to The Telegraph Online, PK Mishra, Public Relation officer of Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway said, “Though up line remained unaffected on precautionary measure train services were stopped till around 7.20 am while in the down line the restoration of train services was effected at around 11.15 am.”

He further said , “Ashish Bansal, Divisional Railway Manager of Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway also reached at the site along with other senior officials of Dhanbad division and supervised the restoration work of train operation on the track.”
