An elite field of 75 professionals will compete in the season-ending Tata Steel Tour Championship, which will unfold at Golmuri golf course on December 26.

The event will start with a pro-am (professionals-amateurs) on Wednesday.

Tata Steel vice-president (safety, health and sustainability) Sanjiv Paul said at a news meet on Tuesday that top 60 players from the current Tata Steel Professional Golf Tour India will be part of the championship as well as 15 invitees, including international winners Jeev Milka Singh, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Jyoti Randhawa and SSP Chawrasia will be vying for top honours during the event which concludes on December 29.

Paul, who is also the golf captain of Jamshedpur, said: “Tata Steel is committed to the development of sports in India and has always been in the forefront of nurturing and supporting sporting talent.”

The association with PGTI is a natural outcome of our shared goal of promoting competition at the highest level in golf.”

PGTI chief executive officer Uttam Singh Mundy said the greens was in great shape and some exciting moments will be spread over the championship.

Jeev, who has 13 international wins under his belt, said he feels excited to be in Jamshedpur.

“I was in this city as a teen to play an amateur event. I would like to go around the steel city. Tata Steel is doing a lot for golf, “ he added.
