Jitendra Sao and Sanjay Sharma, the duo held for assaulting Wasseypur-based Muslim Youth Zeeshan Khan’s on January 7, were granted bail by the court of Dhanbad Additional district and session judge-2, Swayambhu.
They are however likely to be released in a day or two after the court order reaches the authorities of Dhanbad divisional jail where they are lodged since January 8.
Talking to The Telegraph Online today, Narendra Trivedi, the advocate of the accused said, “We filed the bail petition before the court of principal district and session judge on January 21 after which the case was transferred to Additional District Judge, Swayambhu on January 24.”
Earlier on January 19 the court of chief Judicial Magistrate of Dhanbad, Sanjay Kumar Singh, rejected the bail petition of the duo filed on their behalf by senior Advocate Shahnawaz and advocate Narendra Trivedi after which the bail petition was filed in the court of principal district and session judge of Dhanbad, Ram Sharma.
Notably, Dhanbad police has booked the duo under different sections of the Indian Penal Code including 307-related to attempt to murder, 328-related to causing hurt by means of poison etc, section 341-related to punishment for wrongful restrain and 153 A-related to prompting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence etc.
Zeeshan Khan, was mercilessly beaten by a group of people near the City Centre Chowk of Dhanbad on January 7 when he was passing through the place where a silent dharna was being organized by BJP leaders protesting against the breach of security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Punjab Trip.
Not only was Khan made to spit and lick up by the irate mob of BJP workers, he was also compelled to chant Jai Shri Ram against his wishes and made to make cock despite his repeated demand for mercy with folded hands.
Rehan Khan, the younger brother of Zeeshan Khan who is a private firm employee, lodged an FIR against five accused and several other unidentified persons on the evening of the incident day at Dhanbad police station.
