Hazaribagh MP Jayant Sinha said on Thursday that the ministry of forests and environment had given a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the construction of a 500-bed hospital on Hazaribagh medical college campus at Lake Road.

Sinha had in 2014 pledged to build an advanced medical complex in the town, comprising a medical college and a hospital. The promise came at a time when the former civil aviation minister was contesting for the general elections from Hazaribagh, represented for years by his father Yashwant Sinha, for the first time.

He said the medical college became a reality after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly-constructed facility last year after which an MBBS course was started.

Sinha said the other major dream was to get a hospital constructed here and for which a NOC was important from the Union ministry. “I kept following the matter and finally managed to get it cleared last week,” he added.

According to Sinha, the total cost of the medical complex project would be over Rs 1,000 crore. The MP said construction of the 500-bed hospital would begin soon and the entire campus would have a climate responsive design.

“Once this project is completed, I can say that people of this area will not have to go anywhere for treatment as all advanced facilities will be available here,” he added.

“Hazaribagh ab health ke mamle men aatmnirbhar banne ki ore hai (Hazaribagh is on its way to become self-reliant in the matters of health,” he claimed.
