Civic body Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has given encroachers in the city’s most-crowded commercial hub of Sakchi 48 hours to vacate the space or else their goods will be seized.

Acting on the directive of sub-divisional officer (SDO) Dhalbhum, Chandan Kumar, an enforcement squad of the JNAC on Friday made public announcements through loudspeakers in different parts of Sakchi.

“We have announced in the lanes of Sakchi market area, including the Sakchi-Kalimati Road, to remove the encroached structures within 48 hours or else their goods will be confiscated under Jharkhand Municipal Act, 2011,” said JNAC city manager Ravi Bharti.

He added: “The SDO issued the directive after he got complaints of traffic congestion and problems faced by shopkeepers because of encroachers in the market area.”

The official warned that goods confiscated would be kept in either the JNAC office in Sakchi or the local police station and would be released after paying hefty fines to deter them from returning to the spot again.
