Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren, leading a JMM-Congress-RJD coalition government in the state, has decided to contest the Assembly polls after fulfilling his job promises to the youth.

The chief minister, during a review meeting on Thursday, directed the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) officials to expedite the appointment process for government vacancies and complete it by September this year.

Jharkhand, along with Maharashtra and Haryana, are scheduled to hold Assembly polls between November and December this year and the model code of conduct is likely to be imposed by October.

JSSC chairperson Prashant Kumar is learnt to have informed the chief minister that there are nearly 35,000 posts which would be filled through eight competitive examinations by the JSSC and the selection process for these posts is currently under way.

“Directive was issued to ensure complete confidentiality and transparency in the competitive examination conducted by the JSSC. Any irregularity will not be tolerated. If incidents like paper leak occur, strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty,” said an official of the chief minister’s secretariat.

The chief minister asked the Jharkhand director-general of police (DGP) Ajay Kumar Singh and the JSSC chairperson that the process should be started immediately for filling up 580 posts through Jharkhand Excise Constable Competitive Examination and 4,919 posts of Jharkhand Constable Competitive Examination.
