Three big projects — a dairy farm, a cold storage facility and a private college — will come up on Radha Swami Road along Kharkai river in Adityapur, around 3km from here.

While the dairy farm and the cold storage are being set up by the state government, the college is being built by a private firm.

“The dairy will come up on an 18-acre plot at a cost of Rs 170 crore while the cold storage facility will be built on three acres at a cost of Rs 30 crore. We are building both the facilities on behalf of the state government,” Ranjit Mishra, the managing director of Shashank Nidhi Construction, told The Telegraph.

Mishra said though the foundation stones for both the government projects were laid by chief minister Raghubar Das in August last year, work had begun recently.

“We are currently constructing the boundary walls for the farm and the cold storage,” said Mishra, adding that the farm would be similar to Sudha Dairy which has a processing plant in Adityapur.

The government plans to set up one small cold storage of 30-tonne capacity each in every block which can help farmers save costs by preventing rotting of fresh vegetables.

Mishra informed that the private college, which would come on a plot measuring 18 acres near the government projects, was also being built by them.

“The plan for the college building was being finalised,” he said, adding construction was likely to start soon.
