Earlier this week, a 25-year-old student, who was out walking with her male friend on Ring Road on the capital’s outskirts, was dragged to a deserted spot by two youths and raped by the duo and 10 of their friends.

Around 1.15pm on Friday, two men snatched the bag full of cash from Palo Kujur, an employee at the AG office, the moment she entered the office campus after withdrawing the money from the local State Bank of India branch.

Kujur had taken out the money for constructing her house.

“The two men were waiting on a bike on the AG office campus. The moment the woman entered, one of them snatched her bag, hopped on the bike and sped away. The woman raised an alarm, but before anyone could respond, the duo had fled the spot,” an AG office employee said.

Officer in-charge of the Doranda police station Shailesh Kumar said an FIR had been registered on the basis of the victim’s statement. “We have started investigation and are collecting footage from the CCTV camera installed in the locality,” he said.

On November 27, unidentified men had snatched Rs 4.5lakh from a woman at Karkat Mor on NH-75 under Chanho police station.

Senior superintendent of police Anish Gupta dismissed these as sporadic incidents.

“The gang-rape accused have already been arrested. The Chanho snatchers have been identified and will be nabbed soon,” he said.
