Coronavirus outbreak: Dhanbad court courts fewer people

Acting on Jharkhand High Court’s advisory, the district court administration here on Wednesday decided to avoid mass gatherings on court campus and start steps to sanitize and disinfect areas in and around the campus to fight Covid-19.

Principal district and sessions judge of Dhanbad Basant Kumar Goswami on Wednesday held a meeting with the office-bearers of Dhanbad Bar Association and other senior lawyers on steps to avoid large gatherings on court campus.

Later, Goswami told the media: “The virus spreads through close contact. In light of the high court advisory, we have decided to restrict the entry of clients, based on urgency, to court. Lawyers have agreed to fully cooperate on this.”

Goswami added that they had arranged sanitizers for the court staff, lawyers and officers. “With the administration’s help, we’ll try to keep the court campus clean,” he said.

Doctors’ meet

Doctors and paramedics of PMCH and sadar hospital on Wednesday met a three-member team of PMCH government doctors trained in Delhi to treat Covid-19 and adopt precautions, as part of a knowledge-sharing process. Principal of PMCH Shailendra Kumar said the trio of Dr Rishabh Kumar, Dr R.R. Jha and Dr Sujit Kumar Tiwari showed the audience an AV on Covid-19 symptoms, treatment and precautions.

Panic button

Two teens who reached their home in Dhansar from Banglore were forced to go to Dhanbad Sadar Hospital by neighbours who suspected them of having Covid-19. Civil surgeon Gopal Das denied the duo had symptoms of Covid-19 and urged people not to panic.
