A 50-year-old man from the capital, who was admitted to the isolation ward of RIMS here with symptoms of coronavirus at 11am on Friday, died early on Saturday.
RIMS director Dr D.K. Singh did not comment on the deceased’s throat and nasal swab reports. The cause of the man’s death has not been confirmed.
Officially, Jharkhand has two Covid-19 confirmed cases, one in Ranchi and one in Hazaribagh, and both are responding to treatment.
But the death of the man from Booty Mor has raised questions about the state-run hospital’s preparedness to handle persons with Covid-19-like symptoms and patients.
The man was admitted to the isolation ward but died in the emergency ward where he was brought when his condition worsened, RIMS director said.
But an insider at RIMS said a person admitted to the isolation ward was not supposed to come out till his test report comes negative. How was the patient shifted to emergency?”
