The district administration on Tuesday demarcated a containment zone at the Saharpura area of Sindri near the coal town.
The development came about after a 19-year-old chartered accountancy student who returned from Delhi to her home in Saharpura recently, tested positive for Covid-19 late on Monday night.
Dhanbad deputy commissioner Amit Kumar, who visited Sindri on Tuesday, went to see the precautionary measures carried out in the area where the girl lives.
The girl, daughter of a readymade garment shop owner, returned home from Delhi on May 18.
After the girl returned from Delhi by a special train, she was staying in home quarantine.
When she developed fever, her family members took her to the PMCH first and later to a private lab where her swab was collected for Covid-19 test.
On Monday night, the swab was tested positive.
The girl was immediately admitted to the dedicated Covid Hospital of the PMCH at Saraidhela.
Her parents and younger brother were also shifted to the PMCH-based isolation ward for their mandatory testing and quarantine.
The Dhanbad district administration has also launched an intensive contact tracing of the girl and her family members, extended family, neighbours as well as everyone they were associated with.
This is the 11th Covid-19 positive case of Dhanbad district.
Of the 11, two patients have been already recovered. They have been released from the Covid hospital.
The remaining nine are undergoing treatment.
