The lockdown has been tough for students who are not only missing being around their friends but also the extra-curricular activities that challenge their creativity.

To make staying at home a bit more fun, Jusco School South Park had organised an online competition wherein students had to send in their entries between 6pm and 8pm on Friday.

The faculty members led by principal Mili Sinha designed a series of contests to offer a fun break to kids glued to their virtual classrooms. The categories included fancy dress competition for students of UKG and Class I, English recitation for classes III-V; dance for classes VI-VIII and creative writing for classes XI-XII.

The participants had to send in their entries on the four dedicated WhatsApp numbers. Among the 400 odd pictures and videos received by the school, the teachers shortlisted a few and forwarded them to the judges. The results were announced on the school app.

Between April 22 and 27, the school had also organised online Earth Day competition in categories such as thumb printing for classes I and II; paper or cloth bag making for classes III and IV; earthenware decoration for classes V and VI; creating a green spot in the house for classes VII and VIII; slogan writing for classes IX and X; videography for Class XI and photography for Class XII. The school had received around 765 entries.

“There were so many who made beautiful dresses out of newspapers. We plan to organised more such competitions,” Sinha said.
