East Singhbhum SSP Anoop Birtharay told the media on Sunday that the police seized the banner, “VHP anumodit Hindu fruit shop” of the fruit vendor on a pushcart in Kadma on Saturday.

No one will be allowed to disturb the social fabric, the SSP said, and added that the vendor and the initial complainant would both be served with a notice under Section 107 of the CrPC.

Birtharay, while addressing the media, said that the police had not lodged an FIR against the fruit vendor, Raj Kumar, in question, but they will serve him the notice.

A youth from Dhatkidih had tweeted CM Hemant Soren on the issue. Hemant, subsequently, asked SSP Birtharay to take necessary action, leading Birtharay to order Kadma OC Ranjit Kumar to remove the poster. Though VHP Kadma unit president D. Biswas and supporters protested, the fruit vendor had to remove the poster.
