A total of 1,474 people, who were stranded due to the nationwide lockdown, arrived at Dhanbad station early morning on Friday by a special Pravasi Express train (06107) from Egmore station of Chennai.

The rain arrived in Dhanbad around 6.50 am.

The passengers were from different districts of Jharkhand, including 216 from Ranchi, 164 from Bokaro, 146 from Giridih, 120 from Dumka, 86 from Palamau, 82 each from Garhwa and Hazaribagh, 56 from East Singhbhum, 58 from Dhanbad, 52 from Seraikela-Kharsawan, 48 from West Singhbhum, 46 from Deoghar, 34 each from Gumla and Lohardaga, 32 from Latehar, 28 from Khunti, 24 from Godda, 20 from Ramgarh, 18 from Simdega, 16 each from Pakur and Chatra, and 14 from Jamtara.

There were also 16 passengers from Jaspur in Chhattishgarh.

Railway and district administration officials who were present at Dhanbad station welcomed the passengers.

The passengers were made to wash their hands, given masks, screened for fever, and provided food packets and water bottles.

The passengers were then sent to their respective destinations on 60 buses.

The disembarking of the passengers from the train was carried out through only the first and last bogeys as per the instruction of Dhanbad deputy commissioner Amit Kumar in order to maintain social distancing.

All the 58 passengers from Dhanbad who arrived by the train were taken to the Golf Ground where after a detailed medical check-up by a team of doctors they were put under institutional quarantine for a period of 14 days.

The labourers of other district after reaching their respective places will also be sent to their native blocks where after medical check-up they will be put under institutional quarantine.
