The novel coronavirus, which has battered economies and brought the world to a standstill, has become the new theme for young artists in schools.
Over 300 students of DAV Kapildev Public School in Kadru took part in the an online painting competition on the effect of coronavirus and precautions organised by the institute a week ago.
Its results were announced on Monday evening.
Principal M.K.Sinha said the competition was part of the school’s efforts to engage its students in a creative endeavour at a time they were confined to their homes.
“The competition was organised under the direction of art teacher Biswanath Chakraborty a week ago. As many as 300 students from classes V to XII took part. The result was declared on Monday evening,” Sinha said.
Ayush Singh of Class XIIA stood first while Khushi Kumari of Class VIA and Vishal Kumar Singh of Class XIIG jointly stood second.
Marayam Jamila of Class VIA, Archit Kumar Tiwari of Class XA and Aditi Kumari of Class IX B were jointly adjudged third.
Nishita Rathore of Class VD, Shiksha Darshita of Class VIIIA and Nandini Jha of Class XII were selected for consolation award.
Art teacher Chakraborty said it was a new experience for him.
“Earlier, I used to organise competitions in the class. This is the first time I organised a competition online. I want to thank the parents who encouraged the students to take part. The event was successful. Winners will be awarded once the school reopens after the lockdown,” he added.
