State BJP president Laxman Gilua on Monday filed his nomination for the Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat in a high-wattage event in Chaibasa where CM Raghubar Das asked people to vote for a majboot (strong) and not majboor (helpless) sarkar (government).
In Chaibasa’s Gandhi Maidan, NDA leaders led by chief minister Das focused on work done and projects planned for tribal dominated rural areas in Ho-dominated Singhbhum seat, trying to assuage tribal resentment in rural belts.
For the record, none of the six Assembly seats under Singhbhum constituency (Majhgaon, Manoharpur, Chakradharpur, Seraikela, Jagannathpur and Chaibasa) is held by the BJP, though Gilua is the sitting MP, enough reason for the party to worry.
“We want the poor and simple tribals not to be swayed by money and other forces and vote for a majboot sarkar (strong government) and not majboor sarkar (helpless government),” chief minister Das said. “Our double-engine sarkar (both at Center and state) led to drinking water, pavers block, electricity and LED lights project and hospital projects for villages in Chaibasa. These will be realised soon after the model code of conduct restrictions are lifted. Rural people can enjoy same facilities as their urban counterparts,” Das said. He promised to recommend inclusion of Sarna religion code in the 2022 census and Ho language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
Gilua spoke about his party’s achievements in Ho. BJP Lok Sabha poll in-charge Mangal Pandey asked tribals to be chowkidars to foil graft.
Jamshedpur LS seat is a study in contrast. Here, except Baharagora Assembly seat held by JMM, all other five have BJP MLAs.
