Ravi Singh Chaudhary, a Bokaro-born technocrat (28), currently working with Heavy Engineering Corporation in Ranchi as senior executive and who has himself carried out organic farming on his ancestral land at Chas Bokaro, has written a book tirled 'Krishi Samhita' in Hindi explaining the nuances of organic farming.

The book, written during the lockdown, explains the nitty gritty of making green manure, composting, use of crop residue, animal manures, legumes, off farm organic wastes, bio-fertilizers, mechanical cultivation.

Talking to The Telegraph Online today, Chaudhary, a 2015 B Tech Mechanical Engineering pass out of BIT Sindri, said, “I have cultivated 5,000 plants of sweet corn, 900 bitter gourds, 400 french beans and 100 straw berry at my village during 2017-18 as part of organic cultivation using drip irrigation."

“The book, comprising 45 chapters, is divided into two part. Part one deals with production of vegetables and fruits while part two deals with the use of pest control by building a population of useful insects to cope with the harmful pests," said Chaudhary, who also provides consultancy in organic farming to the common people.

“I have incorporated the best techniques of organic farming in my book which in order to ensure that a large number of people interested in organic farming can benefit by reading the book," said Chaudhary while adding that the book is available on Amazon and Flipkart.
