Former Union civil aviation minister of state and BJP’s Hazaribagh MP Jayant Sinha on Sunday termed the Union budget tabled by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman as feel-good budget that fulfils the aspirations of all, from farmers to entrepreneurs.
Jayant claimed the Union budget would hugely benefit Jharkhand at a time chief minister Hemant Soren had said he had asked for a tribal university and the budget gave the state a tribal museum in Ranchi. “Adivasiyon ko museum mein rakhne ki taiyari hai (Preparation to keep tribals in museum),” Hemant had quipped when asked for his reaction on Saturday. Hemant posted The Telegraph report “Asked for varsity, got museum” on Twitter on Sunday.
Jayant, speaking to the media at the state BJP headquarters, said that in Ranchi a world-class tribal museum would be built.
“Jharkhand symbolises tribal culture and we are aware of the rich culture and heritage of tribal society. A world-class museum in Ranchi will be constructed. Tribal museum is not the only thing for Jharkhand. In fact, we have to see the budget in the larger perspective,” he said.
Jayant said that the total layout of tribal budget was around Rs 54,000 crore and Centre had announced a special grant of Rs 1,200 crore to the tribal affairs ministry.
“The budget has announced to create infrastructure of additional 100 airports. In Jharkhand, the construction of an airport in Deoghar will be completed very soon. There are proposed airports near Jamshedpur, in Dumka, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad and Daltonganj (Palamau),” he said.
The MP said that the budget has announced agro-flights from airports to enable the export of agricultural products.
“The government in the budget has proposed solar power scheme for farmers that will add to their income. Under the scheme, central government will provide aid to farmers to set up solar power system on their unused land. These will be connected to the power grid. Farmers will get money out of this. In Jharkhand, farmers go for single crop and there are barren lands available that can be used for the solar power scheme,” he said.
Also, the budget has proposed medical colleges in each district that would help improve health services in Jharkhand, Jayant pointed out.
