Bhuli Zonal Railway Training Institute acquired as Covid-19 isolation centre

The rising number of positive cases in the district has prompted this decision

Dhanbad district administration has acquired the Zonal Railway Training Institute at Bhuli for developing a Covid-19 isolation centre. The rising number of positive cases in the district has prompted this decision. The district administration is operating four quarantine centres at the Divisional Railway Hospital, the Patliputra Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), the Sadar Hospital, and the SSLNT Hospital at present in Dhanbad.

In a media statement released on Monday, Dhanbad DC Amit Kumar said that the zonal training center has been acquired with immediate effect with all its resources and transportation facilities under section 65 of the Disaster Management Act.

The district has witnessed a steep increase in the number of cases during the past several days – the total number of positive cases has reached 108 out, of which 66 have already been cured. Arrival of a large number of migrant workers, along with other people from different parts of the country led to a rise in cases even. The recovery rate in the district has been good, with 37 people released from PMCH on June 5 alone.

A treatment facility for positive cases has been set up at the 500 bed capacity BCCL Central Hospital at Jagjivan Nagar. It has been acquired and declared as a Covid hospital ny the district administration.

At present, of the 115 suspected cases, 99 are kept at Sadar Hospital, 12 at PMCH and four at Railway Hospital, Dhanbad.

Meanwhile, all backlogs of swab sample testing at PMCH have been cleared. Sample testing will also be increased from 600 per day to 900 per day by increasing the number of shifts of work in Covid laboratory from existing two shifts to the three shifts per day.
