A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a minor boy from her neighbourhood. The incident occurred under Giridih’s Bengabaad police station on May 18 but was reported on Friday.

The victim, who was in shock and admitted in a nursing home, narrated the incident to her parents after she gained conscious on Friday.

The girl’s mother lodged an FIR against the boy alleging that he raped her daughter. Sub-divisional police officer, Giridih, Kumar Gaurav said an FIR had been lodged in this connection and search was on for the 15-year-old accused. The girl had been sent for medical test to the sadar hospital; the report is awaited.

Her mother told the police that her daughter was found unconscious in a building that is under construction near their house.

She would usually go and play there with other children. On the day of the crime, the boy finding no one there outraged her modesty and fled after she fainted.

On discovering that she had not returned home even after dusk, her mother and others launched a search and found her lying unconscious in the building.

Angry neighbours demanded that the police take action against the accused.
