Lohardaga police remanded a 19-year-old to judicial custody as he allegedly raped his own sisters and molested his mother in Azad Basti locality under Sadar thana of Lohardaga town in Jharkhand on Tuesday night.

The mother of the youth mustered courage to lodge an FIR with the Lohardaga mahila thana on Wednesday.

The accused son, who works as a mechanic in a motor garage in the same locality, had raped his own younger sister several times in the last three years threatening her of dire consequences if she registers complaint or discloses about the matter in the family, the FIR says.

It also mentions that on Tuesday, the youth tried to rape his elder sister who had taken a bath and was going to kitchen.

He threatened to kill the younger sister when she tried to rescue the elder sister with a knife. Hearing the shouts, the mother intervened and the youth tried to molest her too.

Cases have been lodged under section 376, 354 and 506 of the IPC and under section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

“We have sent the youth to judicial custody after producing him in court.

“We have also sent the victim sister for medical examination and taken their statements along with the mother,” said Lohardaga mahila thana officer in-charge Josephine Hembrom.

The father of the youth was not at home at the time of the incident and is learnt to have three wives while the accused youth and the victim sisters were from the same mother.

They reside in the same house.
