The money she donated was what she earned by taking calligraphy classes for young children during the lockdown.

“Her class was so impressive that her students’ parents paid thanks by donating money to her,” said a proud grandfather MK Prasad, a resident of Bokaro.

“They were the first earnings of her life, which she donated to Asha Lata Viklang Kendra (ALVK) for the development of special challenged children,” he said.

Instead of buying something for herself, Aanya preferred to do something for the betterment of special kids.

Her grandfather, a retired HSCL official resides in Government Officers Colony, BIADA while her grandmother Shova Prasad is a doctor.

Aanya saw the special kids in ALVK when she visited with her parents a few years ago.

ALVK provides free education to visually and hearing impaired, mentally challenged and orthopedically challenged children and youth.

At present there are about 215 special kids studying in the school, which usually faces financial constraints, as it has not received any aid from the government.

“ALVK was founded by a handful of dedicated and committed retired persons of the town for the development of special kids”, said director Bhawani Shankar Jaiswal, saluting Aanya’s noble approach.

Her grandfather said that Aanya took online calligraphy classes as many as 50 children and a few adults, free of cost in her locality during lockdown.

Aanya is the daughter of Kunal Prasad, an ex-Xaverian, and Suman Sahu who are from Bokaro but settled in the USA.

“Asha-Lata is very thankful to Aanya and her whole family for this great contribution. We all appreciate her concern for helping disabled children for their education, said Jaiswal.

“Aanya’s act is an example for the society, and will inspire many”, said another ALVK member.
