Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is of the view that the 'One man, one post' resolution of the party should be strictly adhered to.
The Wayanad MP's views come in the wake of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot aspiring to contest for the Congress chief post despite holding the CM's chair. "The Udaipur resolution (where the resolve was taken) should be followed," said Rahul on Thursday while addressing a press conference during the course of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in the state.
Meanwhile, ndtv.com reports Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath and MP Manish Tewari could also vie for the Congress chief's post.
Further elaborating on the party chief's post, Rahul said, "Anyone can contest. It's not a post, but a belief system, represents vision of India."
Soon after Rahul's comments, ndtv.com reported Gehlot was keen to toe the Wayanad MP's line.
Rahul takes pride in the fact that the interest level in Congress polls is unparalleled. "No other party garners so much of attention," he added.
When quizzed on the NIA raids on premises of the Popular Front of India, Rahul said, "All forms of communalism should be shunned. And extremism should be done away with."
Harping on the success of the Yatra, the Congress MP said that it was all about uniting the people against divisive politics.
