A 39-year-old woman CEO of an artificial intelligence start-up here has been arrested by Goa police for allegedly killing her four-year-old son.
Suchana Seth, the CEO of Mindful AI Lab, was arrested in Chitradurga, around 200km here while returning from Goa in a taxi on Monday with her son’s body in a suitcase. The child’s body has been sent to a government hospital in Chitradurga while Suchana has been taken to Goa.
Police suspect that Suchana’s strained relationship with her husband Venkat Raman from Kerala led to the murder. It is also suspected that she might have tried to take her own life before deciding to head back to Bangalore.
The police told reporters in Goa that Suchana had arrived by flight from Bangalore and checked in along with her son at a high-end furnished apartment in Sinquerim. However, she hurriedly checked out on Monday morning without the child and asked the hotel receptionist to book a cab to Bangalore. Once the cab arrived, she left with her suitcase.
The hotel alerted the police after finding blood-stained clothes in the room Suchana vacated. The police called the cab driver and asked him to head to the nearest police station. The Chitradurga police who were already tipped off about the incoming cab checked the suitcase to find the child’s body.
Suchana was presented before a court in Goa on Tuesday afternoon that sent her to police custody for six days.
