Coldplay is finally coming again to India, to Mumbai in January 2025. While fans should be prepping for a musical dream to come true, they were instead caught in a nightmare battle with- BookMyShow. The ticketing website became the biggest villain in the story, sending Coldplay fans into a meltdown that even Chris Martin’s soothing voice can’t fix.

With tickets priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 35,000, thousands of fans logged in the site at exactly 12 noon on September 22. What they got instead of tickets was the digital equivalent of a traffic jam, as BookMyShow crashed like a poorly coded video game.

Meanwhile, the question What is Coldplay was also trending on Google searches from India. Go figure.

But as Coldplay fans tried their best and didn’t succeed, X (formerly Twitter) was flooded with reactions that were a mix of hilarity, heartbreak, and pure rage.

One user compared the BookMyShow fiasco to another infamous Indian booking system, IRCTC, saying:

“Finally a worthy opponent, our battle would be legendary.”

But this wasn’t a clash of titans- it was more like watching two parties compete in a sprint.

Then there was the user who summed up the experience perfectly:

“BookMyShow? More like HoldMyShow!”

Honestly, at this point, they should just rename it. The "show" here was all about ‘holding’ people hostage in endless queues.

As the hours continued and people still couldn’t book tickets, some started questioning their life choices, like this confused soul:

“Bhai yeh Coldplay kya hai? Thand mein khelna hai kya?”

Clearly, the person didn’t get the memo that “Cold” in Coldplay has nothing to do with temperature and everything to do with the heated frustration that was rising with every minute in the ticket queue.

But not everyone was there just to laugh. Some people seemed to be making a business out of it. One user revealed:

“Three of my friends bought 20 tickets each just to resell them at 30x premium. That's ₹18,00,000 for a day. All of them are Gujjus.”

Coldplay tickets? More like the stock market of 2025.

As people continued refreshing their browsers and praying to whatever tech god might save them, one user posted an image of their seven devices all stuck in the queue.

"यों. के हैं #BookMyShow."

For those unfamiliar with multitasking, this is what dedication looks like.

But it wasn’t just limited to the devices. One frustrated user even compared their queue number to an entrance exam result:

“Que number? IIT rank hai meri, jo pehle aayi thi wahi!” (My IIT rank which came previously)

So booking a Coldplay ticket just became harder than cracking JEE?

Finally, one Twitter user had a startup idea that could genuinely disrupt the market:

“Startup idea: BookMyShow, but where you can actually book your show.”

An innovation one can get behind!

In the middle of all this, Coldplay announced a third date for the concert on January 21st. Tickets for this new date went live at 2 pm, but the queues didn’t get any shorter. Fans continued to fight, refreshing browsers with the same desperation as before. Some walked away with a ticket in hand, while others are probably still waiting.
