Rahul Dasgupta is an educator, entrepreneur, philanthropist, investor, and also leads the education vertical of the Globsyn Group – Globsyn Business School. A successor to the legacy of Bikram Dasgupta, Rahul has been an operational leader, instrumental in keeping Globsyn Business School ahead of the growth curve in terms of learning and development as Kolkata’s leading B-School. Having several feathers in his cap, Rahul’s journey has not been a usual one. While he has a diverse experience, drawn from his stint across industries, he has always kept a steady eye on his family’s vision.

Both Rahul and his father, Bikram Dasgupta, believe that the overarching vision behind the venture, Globsyn Group, is that “ordinary people can do extraordinary things”. Resonating this vision, Rahul has ensured that every person who spends time at the B-School becomes a better version of themselves. What the B-School offers every student is very unique as it balances ‘knowing’ skills, which are imparted through a structured pedagogy, with ‘doing’ and ‘being’ skills, which are propagated through its ‘Beyond Education’ activities – a concept conceived by Bikram Dasgupta to turn students into lifelong leaders and compassionate managers – which forms the underlying philosophy of Globsyn Business School.

To make Globsyn Business School stand out from other B-schools, Rahul, with his steadfast leadership, has been constantly working to improve the education and experience that the B-School provides to its students. He believes that management education should constantly evolve to meet the needs of the market. And to that end, he has consciously tried to assess and reassess whether the students are heading towards becoming better managers, better leaders and better students at every step of the way.

In fact, to further ensure the same, the management has built strategic industry partnerships through their Corporate Relationship Program (CRP). Rahul believes that for any management institution, the industry is an important stakeholder – and the CRP team at Globsyn Business School is instrumental in increasing interaction between the students and the industry. However, more importantly, the CRP is also invaluable when it comes to the development of curriculum and pedagogy, which benefits greatly from the involvement of alumni and other stalwarts from the industry. Through a variety of activities such as 'Boardroom Simulation' and 'Corporate Connect', students are trained to utilize their textbook knowledge in real life situations by working closely with corporates. In effect, the corporate theory that the faculty teaches in class is then taken up by the corporates who present students with real-life situations and problems to solve. Students are therefore equipped with the skills they need to be successful professionally.

Having completed over two decades in postgraduate management education during which they have built up a solid reputation, Globsyn Business School today attracts more than 100 companies every year for campus placements.

Watch Rahul Dasgupta, the man responsible for Globsyn Business School’s emergence as one of the finest management institutes in the country, speak to ABP Digital about his professional journey, the family legacy, his vision for Globsyn, and what makes it stand out today.
