A senior railway official in Bangalore has been suspended for concealing her now-coronavirus-afflicted son’s foreign travel history while putting him up at a government rest house and also not informing the health department that she had been a primary contact.

The 25-year-old man had been advised strict home quarantine on March 13 after he landed at Bangalore airport following his return from Germany via Spain. His mother, an assistant personal officer (traffic), checked him into the officers’ rest house by allegedly suppressing the travel history. On Saturday, she also attended office.
