Widespread violence, arson and vandalism were reported from different parts of the state and bandh supporters clashed with police at various places. In a few places, bandh supporters and opponents fought pitched battles.

RJD supporters swarmed roads and railway tracks since early morning, blocking them at places to disrupt traffic. At several places they smashed windows and windscreens of vehicles, including buses. They also stopped trains and climbed onto their engines.

Aurangabad town, 145km from Patna, was the worst hit. The police later searched houses during which people were allegedly thrashed.
