Uttar Pradesh court sentences man to 10-year rigorous imprisonment for raping minor

The case was lodged under relevant sections of the IPC, including 376 (rape) and (POCSO) Act

A man has been sentenced to 10-year rigorous imprisonment by a court here for raping a minor girl in 2019.

Special Judge (POCSO) Vinay Kumar Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 7,000 on the convict Mohmmad Alam on Tuesday, Assistant District Government Counsel Vinod Kumar Singh said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on July 13, 2019 when Alam lured the 14-year-old girl from her house and raped her.

The survivor’s father had filed a complaint after which a case was lodged under relevant sections of the IPC, including 376 (rape) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
