The younger brother of the basic education minister in the Yogi Adityanath government has resigned from the post of assistant professor at Siddharth University, Kapilvastu, saying he was the “son of a Brahmin” and image mattered more to him than the job.
“I have tendered my resignation. My only crime is that I am the brother of a minister,” Arun Kumar Dwivedi, the brother of minister Satish Chandra Dwivedi, told reporters in Siddharth Nagar on Wednesday.
“I am the son of a Brahmin. My brother’s image is more important to me than my job. I was unnecessarily targeted by our enemies,” he added.
A higher education department source said governor Anandiben Patel had ordered a probe into the allegation that Arun had fraudulently obtained an Economically Weaker Section certificate.
Arun was appointed in the EWS category on May 21. Someone with a joint family income of less than Rs 8 lakh; less than five acres of land and a house in an area of less than 1000 square metre can qualify for the quota.
