The body of a 14-year-old girl, who went missing earlier this week, was recovered from a car parked on the campus of jailed sadhu Asaram’s ashram on the outskirts of Gonda city in east Uttar Pradesh.

The girl’s mother Usha Devi alleged it was the handiwork of some people associated with the ashram who had been eyeing her properties.

“The body is at least four days old. We recovered it at 4am on Friday after getting the information from the watchman of the ashram, who spotted it first. The car was standing there for the last few months. We have sealed Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu Ashram along Gonda-Bahraich Road and are investigating the case. The post-mortem report of the girl is awaited,” said Pankaj Singh, circle officer of Gonda city.
