The body was found at the campus of S.R. Level Inter School at Nathnagar, which is around 500 metres away from the area’s police station. The victim seemed to have been in her mid-twenties.

According to the police, she had deep injuries on her head and near one of her eyes. A dupatta, rolled to give it the shape of a rope, was tightly tied around her neck while her hands were tied with another dupatta.

A large number of local people assembled at the school after hearing about the body.

“I got information over the phone that a body was lying in the school. I rushed there. Anti-social elements become very active in the evening here. They even break the gates of the school. They threaten us if we stop them. We informed the police and administration about this, but their activities have continued unchecked,” S.R. Level Inter School principal in-charge Ranveer Kumar said.

Senior police officials also rushed to the place after getting information about the body.

“The Nathnagar station house officer (SHO) immediately reached the school and protected the scene of the crime. Our dog squad and FSL (forensic science lab) team were also immediately called. We are collecting evidence and taking further action,” Bhagalpur city superintendent of police (SP) Amit Ranjan said.
