The Centre on Monday told the Supreme Court that it was considering the requests of several students evacuated from war-ravaged Ukraine to allow them to complete their education in India.

“The Government of India is looking into their (students) representations and will take a decision,” Attorney General K.K. Venugopal told a bench of Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and Justice Krishna Murari.

The bench was dealing with two separate writ petitions filed by Bangalore-based student Fathima Ahan and advocate Vishal Tiwari.

At the last hearing on March 7, the court had issued notice to the Centre and asked for its response on the plea.

On Monday, after hearing Venugopal’s submission, Chief Justice Ramana said that in view of the statement made by the attorney-general,nothing survives in the two petitions and as such the same were being closed.
