Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday hit out at Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray, a former BJP ally, for aligning with the Congress and said he has joined forces with those who call Hindutva 'pakhand' (sham).

Addressing a rally in support of the ruling Mahayuti front in the Karad (South) assembly segment in western Maharashtra's Satara district ahead of the November 20 polls, the senior BJP leader also targeted NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar.

Shah said Thackeray, who snapped ties with the BJP in 2019 and joined hands with the Congress and the united NCP, is aligned with those who question the existence of Lord Ram.

"You are sitting with those who call Hindutva 'pakhand' (sham), those who protected the tombs of Afzal Khan (a general in Bijapur Adil Shahi empire) and (Mughal emperor) Aurangzeb. You are sitting with those who call Hindus terrorists, you are sitting with those who fed (26/11 terrorist) Ajmal Kasab biryani and you are sitting with those who question the existence of Lord Ram.

"You should be ashamed," said Shah in a sharp attack on the former CM.

Training his guns at Pawar (83), the BJP leader said at this age, the NCP (SP) president tells lies that businesses are moving out of Maharashtra.

"I would like to ask Pawar saheb about a single (development) work done by the MVA government (during its tenure from November 2019 to June 2019)," he said.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) are constituents of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
