This is 2022 and without a doubt, an era of digitization that has resulted in the emergence of numerous online news portals. Journalism, in the last few decades, has drastically undergone several changes in India. Not just the way news is being reported but the platform to consume that news has also evolved. People now, unlike the earlier times, are not merely interested in news about power circles but they are also keen to know about the stories that matter to them, the stories that impact their lives. Catering to the same, ace journalist duo of Aarti Tikoo and Rohan Dua recently started The New Indian, a portal dedicated to bringing unheard stories across the country.

Based in the National Capital, The New Indian is a digital news portal that covers a plethora of segments like politics, defence, foreign policy, investigations, business, health, education, lifestyle, entertainment and sports all under a single roof. The portal that was launched on October 2, 2021, by a team of talented and experienced journalists led by both the co-founders Aarti Tikoo and Rohan Dua has been creating quite a stride in the realm of digital journalism.

The New Indian was started with a vision to bring journalism that is free of any bias and to report news that is free of any kind of propaganda. Being an independent news portal, they have the liberty to exercise unfettered freedom, without any external influence and this is what makes their news authentic and credible. Laden with a team of reporters, content & news writers, and editors, The New Indian has been able to conduct insightful interviews across the political spectrum with former Punjab CM Charanjit Channi Singh, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, UP deputy CMs Brijesh Pathak and Keshav Maurya, Manipur CM Biren Singh, Akhilesh Yadav, Robert Vadra and union ministers like Anurag Thakur, Rajnath Singh, Kiren Rijiju and NSA Ajit Doval several others.

Explaining about the idea behind starting The New Indian, seasoned journalist and Co-founder of the news portal, Aarti Tikoo stated, “Well, the reason for me and Rohan to start The New Indian was that along with relevant news that matters to the common citizens of this country, we also wanted to bring forth inspiring stories of individuals who are significantly contributing to society in their respective capacities. Coming from the industry and having gained rich experience, I personally believe that news is just not about politics, diplomacy, tragedies, and war but in reality, it is also about bringing forth the unheard voices which, for numerous reasons, do not make it in the national media.”

The New Indian which was started almost a year ago is also one of the fastest growing digital news portals in India and the same can be testified by the fact that their website’s Youtube channel has already been subscribed by more than 10,000 people. Their channel and portal are now known for clean and unbiased bilingual reportage which has resulted in helping them gain a huge reader base in a short span of time. For providing convenience to their readers and viewers at their fingertips, The New Indian also launched their mobile-based application which is available for free to download on Google Play Store for Android Users and Apple Store for iPhone/iPad users.

Having the tagline ‘What Print Can’t, TV Doesn’t; We Deliver,’ they have positioned themselves as an alternative to electronic and print media. Recently, they garnered a lot of appreciation for their reportage and coverage of Udaipur’s broad-daylight killing along with their ground reporting on Haryana DSP’s murder by the sand mafia in Nuh. The New Indian, through its impactful stories, is widely gaining the trust of its readers and is in a rapid expansion mode with an aim to bring quality ground reporting. Their multimedia team of journalists is now spread across Punjab, J&K, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat with strong online coverage.
