The Supreme Court on Friday sought a report within a week from the juvenile justice committee of Jammu and Kashmir High Court on complaints that children had been kept in illegal custody in the state following the August 5 lockdown.
The bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, however, desisted from revealing the contents of J&K Chief Justice Gita Mittal’s report on petitioner Enakshi Ganguly’s claim that the high court had become inaccessible to people since August 5.
The bench also directed the Centre to respond in two weeks to a wife’s habeas corpus plea seeking the whereabouts of her detained husband, businessman Mubeen Shah.
