A jawan of the Special Task Force (STF) was on Sunday killed when a pressure improvised explosive device (IED), planted by Maoist, went off in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said.

The incident occurred around 4.30pm near Peddagellur village when a joint team of security forces was out on an anti-Maoist operation, inspector general of police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P. said.

“When the patrolling team was on way back after the operation, constable Mohan Nag inadvertently stepped on the bomb, triggering the blast that left him critically injured,” he said. He died in hospital.
