In the recently held elections for Rajasthan University Student Union, Nirmal Choudhary who ran for Student Union Election as an independent candidate for the post of President was able to secure an easy win. Nirmal Choudhary defeated his nearest rival candidate of NSUI Niharika Jorwal, to become the RUSU president. Choudhary bagged 4,043 votes while Jorwal polled 2,576 votes. NSUI’s official candidate Ritu Barala was relegated to the third position with 2,010 votes and Narendra Yadav of the ABVP was a distant fourth with 988 votes. This young leader conquered victory with a margin of 1467 votes in the election where almost 20,000 students enrolled in the four constituent colleges Maharaja College, Maharani College, Commerce College, and Rajasthan College participated by casting ballots.

Nirmal Choudhary scripted history as he became the fifth independent candidate to win the presidency after defeating strong opposition candidates like Ritu Barala of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), Narendra Yadav of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and Niharika Jorwal, the daughter of Minister Murarilal Meena from the NSUI.

Thousands of people aspire to achieve the office of political power throughout the world, but very few of them preserve the real essence of a nation builder. Being one such young representative who recognizes the same, Nirmal Choudhary is frequently credited with bringing up the subject of education and has always pushed for free education. In addition to establishing a secure campus environment, the young student leader is committed to bringing about the much-needed changes in the sector of education after assuming the charge of RUSU President. Previously associated with numerous awareness initiatives, Nirmal Choudhary has established himself as a rising social worker and is well-known among significant political figures in addition to students. Backed with the support of eminent personalities such as Mukesh Bhaskar who is an MLA of Congress, Hanuman Beniwal who holds the position of MP of Nagaur, and Anil Chopra, the former President of Rajasthan Student Union and NSUI. According to reports, these seasoned politicians were inspired by Nirmal's political philosophies and viewpoint on solidarity with the country.

Another prominent name in the realm of politics, Shubham Rathi, the President of Akhil Bhartiya Jat Mahasabha and Uttar Pradesh Students Union also has strongly endorsed him with his esteemed support in all kinds of vicissitudes. Reportedly, Shubham Rathi travelled from Moradabad to Jaipur for Nirmal Choudhary's support during the election campaign when he encountered some resistance from opposition party members. Assuring him that the Uttar Pradesh Students Union is behind him and vowed abiding support, Shubham Rathi stated, “If I have to put forth my opinion I would say in a democracy like ours which aspires to become a superpower, it is essential to evolve through the nature of politics. Young political prodigies such as Nirmal Choudhary hold the charisma to create the same and with perpetual and virtuous support they can manifest the same in reality.”

After being elected as the leader of the students, Nirmal Choudhary while talking about who is in his eyes a real politician, said, “Honestly what I have learned is the Coronavirus Pandemic's noteworthy aspect is how it has demonstrated the value of strong political leadership. We look to elected representatives, regardless of where we are on the political spectrum, to help guide us through this crisis. A career spent in student politics has given me an understanding of what makes a good politician as a policy maker, rather than a candidate, I should clarify even though I don't want to discuss any particular politicians. One of the ironies of our system is that once someone is in office, the abilities and qualities that got them there frequently do not translate into the abilities needed for success. However, for our country to advance, we rely on politicians' ability while in office.”

After the announcement of Nirmal Choudhary’s winning, there was a strong gush of thrill and enthusiasm among the students of the university and even the faculty members who were present on the occasion. While addressing the students, Nirmal Choudhary announced a holiday the following Monday in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor. This turned out to be a rare occasion and was later officially announced by the college authorities. The Rajasthan University catered consistent buzz during this election season as the student wings of different political parties did campaign on the campus.
