Bihar police arrested a serial killer who had terrorised Muzaffarpur town by allegedly stabbing and bludgeoning at least three persons to death and leaving another one seriously injured in a span of nine days.
The pattern of attack in all of them was similar and the attacks were limited to Kolhua Paigambarpur and neighbouring areas under Ahiyapur police station. This made the police consider them serial killings.
The serial killer has been identified as Shivchandra Paswan, a resident of Kolhua Paigambarpur locality.
The incidents occurred on April 30, May 1, and May 8. All the targeted persons were either labourers or security guards, staying or working in the open during the night.
“We had formed a team that started gathering inputs and mounted surveillance in the affected localities, especially around construction sites and deserted places,” Muzaffarpur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rakesh Kumar told The Telegraph on Friday.
Intelligence inputs suggested that a woman was selling used mobile phones at low prices and one of the suspects had bought one from her. Khushbu revealed that she had been purchasing mobile phones from Shivchandra.
