Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze was on Sunday remanded in the National Investigation Agency’s custody till March 25 after the NIA claimed in court that he had admitted to his involvement in placing explosives in a car parked near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence.
Assistant inspector Waze, who had led the team that arrested Republic TV managing director Arnab Goswami last November, was arrested on Saturday under IPC Sections 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance), 465 (forgery), 473 (making or possessing counterfeit seal, etc, with intent to commit forgery), 506(2) (criminal intimidation), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and the Explosive Substances Act, an official said. Waze’s brother Sudharma said the family learnt of his arrest through the media.
