Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister Mitu Singh told a Patna police team probing the actor’s suicide in Mumbai that he was being “tortured” by actress and rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, a source in Patna police said.
Sushant’s father Krishna Kishore Singh has lodged an FIR in Patna against Rhea, her parents, brother and two others accusing them of abetment to suicide, among other charges.
Mitu, a Versova resident, has told the Patna police team that Rhea had been troubling Sushant for three months prior to the June 14 suicide.
“Sushant’s sister has said he had been very perturbed, apprehensive and troubled because Rhea had been torturing him. She (Rhea) used to operate his bank accounts, kept him away from his family…,” the Patna police source told The Telegraph.
“Mitu also said that after a fight with Sushant, Rhea walked out of their apartment on June 8 with valuables, laptops, mobile phones and several other things,” the source added.
According to the source, the police have found evidences of transactions worth Rs 15 crore from Sushant’s bank account, and that four Navi Mumbai-based companies had been opened by the actor with Rhea and her family members as directors.
Sources said the Enforcement Directorate had asked Patna police for a copy of the FIR registered by Sushant’s father so that the agency could look into a possible money-laundering aspect.
The Patna police team has also spoken to Ankita Lokhande, actress and Sushant’s former girlfriend. The source said Ankita had shared with the team social media chats with Sushant in which the actor had purportedly spoken about Rhea.
Rhea and her brother Sauvik Chakraborty have not been found at their Mumbai residence for the past two days.
Sushant’s family lawyer Vikas Singh on Friday claimed that Rhea had taken control of Sushant’s finances and medical needs.
Besides abetment to suicide, Rhea has been booked for voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, theft, criminal breach of trust, cheating, criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy.
Plea for CBI binned
The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a PIL seeking a CBI probe into Sushant’s death, saying it was for Mumbai police to conduct investigations into the various allegations.
Chief Justice S.A. Bobde told the petitioner, Alka Priya: “Let police do its job. It has nothing to do with whether a person was a good person or a bad person. It is also about jurisdiction. Approach Bombay High Court if you have anything concrete.”
CJI Bobde made the observation after the petitioner submitted that the actor had been involved in social service, including sending children to Nasa at his own expenses. The bench also had Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian.
Sushant’s father Krishna Kishore on Thursday filed a caveat urging the apex court to hear him out while dealing with Rhea’s plea that the case be probed and tried in Mumbai. Rhea’s petition is yet to be listed for hearing.
