RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday slammed chief minister Nitish Kumar-led government over the rising crime graph in Bihar by listing 143 incidents of recent crimes.

The move triggered a political stir in the state as Nitish’s Janata Dal United (JDU) jumped in to wrestle with him over the issue.

Ram naam satya, sushasan ka tathya, apradhiyon ko arghya (The reality of good governance is the death (of people), and tributes to criminals),” Tejashwi wrote in his post on social media platforms while posting the crime list.

He added: “I am presenting a few criminal incidents that occurred in Bihar recently, for your attention. Do not say that there is jungle raj in the state, else calamity will come.”

The list includes over 60 murders, several attempts to murder, rapes, loots, and robbery that occurred in different parts of the state earlier this month.

Tejashwi, who is also the leader of Opposition in the Bihar legislative Assembly, chose headlines from Hindi dailies, while preparing the list.

Stung by the attack, JDU fielded its spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar to take on the RJD leader.

Neeraj said: “He is young, and his experience is limited. He is holidaying with family in Dubai. How will he know that people in his Assembly constituency Raghopur are affected by floods? The government of Nitish Kumar is running 13 relief camps there. It has helped over 9000 people there.”

He added: “Tejashwi is trying to create fear in Bihar while vacationing abroad. He should also provide the FIR numbers, date and name of the concerned police stations while posting such lists. Strict action is taken in each case of crime.”
